Use of the electronic health record in the design and conduct of clinical trials Workshop - Manchester 23 June 2014

Details:

I attended this health informatics workshop this week which aimed to give representatives from all UKCRC registered trial units and other researchers both in academia and industry the opportunity to engage in discussions of how EHRs can be fully utilised to better support clinical trials.

The workshop showed a diversity across the UK of the capacity currently available for utilising EHRs, with examples given from the Welsh SAIL databank http://www.saildatabank.com/ , and Scotland's newly established Safe Havens for data http://www.isdscotland.org/Products-and-Services/eDRIS/ .

A formal report of the day will be written up with the conclusions that this group came to, and the slide sets used will be available soon at http://www.methodologyhubs.mrc.ac.uk/news__events/workshop_summaries.aspx
